Chibis and Animazement Report!

News

Hi everyone!

Well, it's finally time for a journal update...which is LONG overdue. May has definitely been a busy and exhausting month for me, both physically and mentally. When Memorial Day Weekend came around though, the payoff was awesome! I have been so overstressed the past couple of weeks in May that I highly believe I was at a breaking point mentally so Animazement was a very big stress-reliever for me ^^ I even did some rough sketching that weekend of some original work and of Sailor Silence (that is not upload worthy mind you ^^), which was really great.

While I do have complaints about how the staff handled Animazement this year, overall I really enjoyed it and in a way, needed it. I got to meet Masao Maruyama and got his autograph!! (For those who do not know, Masao Maruyama is the founder of the animation studio, Mad House and the newly established Mappa - he's an inspiration to me) Unfortunately though, I was an idiot for not bringing something to sign so I had him sign my badge (which is normally something I do for Animazement anyways) and below his signature, he drew a silly face. I was giggling the entire time. Unfortunately though, there wasn't really any guests other than Masao Maruyama that I instantly knew and wanted to see.

I attended several panels (some I had to leave early due to time issues) about Sailor Moon, Commissions/Collectibles, AMVs, Togakatsu, and plenty more. The first two Togakatsu panels I went to, I actually enjoyed. While the first panel was about Karmen Rider (which made me more intrigued to watch W), the same group on Friday, did a late night adult Togakatsu where they showed other shows besides Karmen Rider and Sentai shows like Gato and PGSM. I enjoyed pretty much all of the Sailor Moon panels and attended *sakkysa's double panel about collections and commissions - this was very informative for me and fun as well. In fact, if you check my collection's account, I actually finally got around to start my collections area so its not all lying around XD And one more panel that I had a lot of fun at was the AMV 101 panel, which is making me thinking of coming out of my hiatus on amvs to make one more amv itself (it would be BRS and if I do, maybe I'll livestream it - lol). After the panel, one of the attendees spoke with me afterwards and the person knew me because of my Ayashi no Ceres music video which is like ancient now. XD Apparently, it was her reason to start making amvs like Kusoyaro was mine years ago.

As for the Dealer's room...it. was. HUGE! Kind of reminded me when I went to my last convention at Otakon's dealer room (which is probably even bigger now XD). While I was going crazy over all the merchandise, I had a mission and that was to get more nendoroids and figmas! Thankfully, I found this dealer who gave me a deal on the two items (a figma and a nendoroid) I bought from him and I plan to buy from him in the future because of it. Anyways, I ended up buying a Madoka Nendoroid to replace my bootleg, the Hatsune Miku Append Nendoroid, and the BRS2035 figma (that's the game version BRS) and all for excellent prices! I was a happy person ^^

While I enjoyed the Art Auction Room and the experience it gave me, I will say that I was slightly diappointed with how things were being run. One of the rules for the Art Room was that all artwork had to be framed and hangable. When I got there on Friday, they said that they ran out of fishing line to hang the artwork and there was a strong possiblity that my artwork would have to be on the ground for a little bit. So I'm thinking no big deal, right? Well, they never went out for getting additional supplies and my artworks ended up staying on the ground to the entire weekend. They also put my bidding sheet in front of the artwork too (went back and adjusted it XD). I was not entirely happy with that. Still, it was really great to see all the gorgeous pieces in that room by other artists.

Another thing I enjoyed about Animazement is that I finally got to meet Sakky, Itsudemo, and Angel in person! While I didn't get much of a chance to hang out with Angel :(, I did spend some time with Sakky and Mo and had a blast!

When I attend the next Animazement, I will probably be applying for Artist Alley as well as two panels. I have some really great ideas for panel such as a nendoroid/figma panel or a Black Rock Shooter panel :evillaugh:. After the art auction was done through, my husband said to me, "Instead of doing the art auction, why don't you try out for Artist Alley next year and we'll team up to sell stuff?" That was like music to my ears ^^

Anyways, that's enough about Animazement...time to talk about my upcoming artwork projects!

My upcoming plans for my art projects is that I'm pretty much going to lineart all the ones that I plan to work on first in a batch and then head over to coloring. I'm going to be working on art trades, gifts, and some personal artwork all at the same time. Here's my to-do list that is in no order particular order...

--Draw/Sketch--
• *Silverlegends's art trade
• *elila's art trade

--Lineart--

• ~mimineko828's art trade [link]
• *PhoenixMouse's art trade [link]
• Giftart for *Chibi-Narusegawa [link]
• ~LadyJewel's commission: [link]
• Personal Project: [link]

• ~mimineko828's art trade [link]

As you can see, I have a pretty good list to keep me busy for the entire summer of 2012. My goal is to be able to open up for commissions again come September with a clean list. I will honestly say this that I will probably no longer be taking any Art Trades after I clear my list (although there will probably be some exceptions with very close Deviantart Buddies and real-life friends). I will probably be going back to do random giftart, work on my own projects, as well as commissions.

So there you have it! A nice long update from me! Also, if you are interested in purchasing the chibi artwork that didn't sell at Animazement, be sure to check my journal: [link]

Until next time, stay safe everyone! And more artwork to come! :blowkiss:
